A Drawing of a Dialogue (Artist Book) with Takashi Iwasaki

A Drawing of a Dialogue (2011)
Takashi Iwasaki & s. arden hill
Japanese stab bind.

Cover: modge podge, varnish, dry transfer letters and paper
Pages: Transparencies; glue; water colour; blood; ink; paint pens; cut paper, stickers & shiny material; gel medium; aerosol; and highlighters

This was a collaborative project in which we each began with 6 transparencies and a week time frame. After that week was done we exchanged each other’s transparencies and had one week to add to the other’s work. When that week was over we got together and discussed the process and order for the pages. Being the pages were transparent it was very fun seeing the various connections between pages.

The theme/title for the artist book came from an interview with American artist Richard Serra in which he discussed a dialogue between material and form.
